Site Grading and House Pad Prep Done Right

Getting a site ready for construction is one of those things that looks simple until it goes wrong. Poor grading leads to drainage problems, uneven pads, and headaches that follow a project all the way through to the finish. We take that part seriously - because everything built on top of it depends on getting the ground right first.

Here's what we were working with - a multi-lot development that needed to be cleaned up, graded, and shaped around freshly poured concrete house pads. The soil had to be worked carefully around each slab, keeping the grade consistent while not disturbing the pads or the utility stubs coming up through them. That takes operator skill and the right equipment working together.

We ran a Kubota track loader to get into the tighter areas between pads and move material efficiently across the site. Track machines are better suited for this kind of work because they distribute weight more evenly and give you better control on soft or uneven ground - which matters a lot when you're working close to fresh concrete.

Solid grading at this stage sets the tone for everything that follows - foundation drainage, backfill, landscaping, driveway approaches. Cutting corners here costs real money later. We make sure the lot is shaped correctly the first time so the next crew can come in and get to work without dealing with someone else's mess.
